A review of Easy Trouble from
Mike Murray at Whole
Lotta Shakin':
"As a life-long rock 'n' roll fan,
as well as being in several bands myself, Easy Trouble
is the one of the most realistic and honest stories of
the ups and downs of a real rock 'n' roll band I've ever
seen. This story is not contrived or sensationalized for
the sake of image or publicity. It shows how being part
of a R&R group paralells other close-knit relationships—the
love, hate, misunderstandings, deception, team work, triumphs,
boredom andthe never-ending drive to succeed. You come
away with the impression that these people are going to
be playing rock 'n' roll for the rest of their lives whether
it's for 10 people or 10,000 people."
From Ed Sabatino Program Director, WPLR
(New Haven CT) after seeing The Charms at Toad's Place:
"I wish the crowd was bigger... at the
same time, you can tell who the 'real' performers are
when the house is half full. This leads me to The Charms,
absolutely electric!! I obviously attend my share of shows
during the year. It is so rare that the newer bands are
'bigger than the stage.'
"I've seen some of the greatest acts ever
at Toad's Place—The Stones, Dylan, U2, Black Crowes
and too many more to mention. When they played, their
presence took over the room. The Charms accomplished this!
Ellie owned the audience... the crowd was about 15 feet
from the stage for the first 5 minutes of the set. She
grabbed them by the throat, pulled them all around her—and
they loved it. So Friggin' Cool.
"Too many bands are wrapped up in their
own shit these days. Not only did they have great time
with the crowd, they enjoyed each other. The band was
tight and sounded great, being stuck in my classic rock
bubble I don't get to really enjoy some of the new bands...
I can't wait till 'Strange Magic' comes out. These guys
are a great pick for 'Wicked Cool.' They represent the
label and themselves well."
